Two graduates of the University of Bohol have been chosen as regional Finalists for the 2009 Ten Outstanding Students in the Philippines Central Visayas (TOSP R7).
Marie Nickie Hontucan Bolos, Summa Cum Laude in Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Ann Bernaldez Crusit, Magna Cum Laude in Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education major in Physical Science, who both recently graduated in March this year, are two of the chosen 30 regional finalists of the search for Ten Outstanding Students in the Philippines Central Visayas. The search is a program of the government which gives recognition to outstanding students who were able to balance scholastic achievements with leadership by example and passion for community service.
The 30 regional finalists will undergo a week-long training and screening which has already began last April 23 and will culminate on April 28. The process will include a one day formation program that will focus on the challenges of nation building with the goal of developing a TOSP Community. The Regional Awarding Ceremonies will be on April 27 at the MalacaƱan Sa Sugbo (MSS), Cebu City. The top ten regional winners will automatically be nominated to the national TOSP Search. The national secretariat will choose the top 30 national finalists and from these 30 finalists, the top ten will be declared.
The University of Bohol is giving her full support to the two regional TOSP finalists. This manifests UB’s continued thrust of providing not only excellent education to its students but also a chance to pursue every students’ interest through extracurricular activities and help discover students’ talent that’s been waiting to blossom.
