UB ‘s Blended Learning Program: A convenient way to post-graduate studies

Why attend classes in school every Saturday to earn your master’s and doctorate degrees when you can do it at your home and place of work?

The pool of work force in the government and private institutions concomitantly created professional rivalry among employees and workers. Most of them desire to continue further studies for salary upgrading or rank promotion, while others are for self-enhancement. However, the distance of their work stations from the post graduate schools and their time schedule constrain them to study more.

In 2007, the University of Bohol Professional Studies Department through Dr. Godofreda O. Tirol, PhD, director, initiated the Blended Learning Program to address the pressing needs of our teachers and employees, most especially those from the municipalities, provinces and other countries. Since then, the program is proven to be efficient, effective and enriching to the learners.

What is Blended Learning Program (BLP)?

The Blended Learning Program (BLP) is a course management system that employs “blended learning instructions”. It is the mixing of face to face instruction with online teaching, reducing classroom contact hours without sacrificing quality of instruction by optimizing the effects of both teaching environment.

Efficient and Convenient

The BLP uses an effective online course management system, which allows the learners and the instructors to interact, share materials, gather and review assignments, among others.

BLP allows the learner to study right where he is. He can communicate with his instructors or peers whenever his schedule permits, and access notes, reading materials and assignments in his own time.

Effective

By moving most of the content delivery to the online environment, the once-a-month face-to-face lecture time can focus more on questions and problem-solving. This can provide opportunities for more in-depth analysis and new learning. Further, the provision of materials and assignments online can allow the learner more time to research and reflect, which can lead to more thoughtful and effective discussion.

Enriching

The BLP fosters sharing and participative learning process that would allow the learner to gain, generate and contribute new ideas and knowledge. Indeed, the journey towards getting the Master’s and Doctorate’s degrees can be the most enriching experience.

With the new academic innovation, the desire to continue post-graduate courses is now a privilege rather than a choice. Truly, BLP is the right blend for you!
