UB educ. hold 19th pinning, candle lighting and tribute to parents

The University of Bohol, College of Education, held its 19th pinning, candle lighting and tribute to parents last June 19, 2009, at the university gymnasium.


With the theme, “The challenging role of teachers in the current trends in education”, Dr. Maria Luisa Clet, guest speaker, stressed the vital role of teachers to develop the knowledge and skills of the students. Dr. Clet also emphasized the multi-faceted personality of the teacher to face the current challenges of the profession as: manager, motivator, leader, model, surrogate parent, social catalyst, facilitator/instru ctor, and guidance counselor. “If a teacher learns to love his children, then he will surely learn to love teaching”, Clet added. On the other hand, Dr. Ricardo Bullecer, supervisor of BEED and BSED teacher trainees , presented the forty one candidates for internship to Dean Carolina Belarmino who in turn took recognition and acceptance of the candidates.


During the candle lighting ceremony, Atty. David B. Tirol, university president, personally led the lighting of the candle which was passed on to the candidates. In his inspirational message, Atty. Tirol emphasized the developed mind as the key to development and progress. He likewise encouraged the students to continue learning and to explore the world of knowledge that awaits us all. As university president, Tirol expressed pride and gratefulness to the parents, for entrusting the educational development of their children to the University of Bohol.

A memorable part followed when the candidates offered roses as tribute to their beloved parents.


The occasion was attended by the members of the board of trustees, faculty and students.
