UB, BJMP and PPA ink memos

The University of Bohol represented by its president Atty. David B. Tirol have recently entered into and memorandum of undertaking and agreement with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Region VII and the Parole and Probation Administration (PPA)-Bohol Cluster respectively, last July 13, 2009.

In two separate occasions on the same date, UB President David Tirol first signed the memorandum of undertaking with BJMP represented by J/C Supt. Doris Remedios-Dorigo, CEO VII, on Academic Engagement with BJMPO VII. Primarily ,both parties take cognizance of the social responsibilities and the need to extend assistance to those who are behind bars. The objectives of the program include custodial services/searching services, paralegal services, case follow up, health care/health teaching, tutorials, technical knowledge transfer, and counseling/case management. The University of Bohol and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology are confident that the program could be an effective mechanism in giving inmates their basic rights to education and speedy disposition of their cases, with the end view of making them better persons upon their return into the mainstream of society.

In a related development, the University of Bohol also entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Parole and Probation Administration (PPA)-Bohol Cluster, Region VII on Therapeutic Community Modality for Parolees and Probationers Project to be implemented under Bohol Cluster. The project is an expansion of the communities served from Bohol PPA Office II based in Tubigon, Bohol. The primordial purpose of the project is the promotion of human and social transformation among the probationers and parolees. Atty. David Tirol represented UB while Asst. Regional Director Al C. Cainglet,RD1, Region VII represented the PPA-Bohol Cluster during the signing of the agreement.

Both projects are part of the continuing commitment of the University of Bohol in community extension services in the province.
