UB AMT holds aviation skills, tech seminar


The University of Bohol College of Engineering and Technology-Aircraft Maintenance Technology (AMT) Department in cooperation with Team Up Aviation Skill Tech and Review Center, have conducted an aviation skills and technology seminar last September 4-5, 2009 at the university’s instructional media center (IMC).

With the theme “Knowing airbus and Boeing airliners” the two day activity was attended by veteran aviation engineers who lectured on different topics. Asst. Prof. Cristino B. Carson, head AMT Department, Philippines State College of Aeronautics, stressed on the role of AMT students as aircraft engineers. On the other hand, Aircraft General Roberto C. Cuizon, former deputy manager, PAL Lufthansa Line Maintenance-Southern Philippines, Mactan Cebu International Airport, discussed the topics on Airbus A320, A330 and A340 aerodynamics, structure and flight controls; and MRO B737,B747, B777 hydraulics, landing gear, power plant, auxiliary power unit and fuel systems.

Atty. Victoriano B. Tirol, Jr., UB acting president welcomed the guests and participants while Engr. Liberato H. Lupo Jr., dean CET and Mr. Tereso Refamonte, head AMT have introduced the lecturers.

Presently, only the University of Bohol offers Aircraft and Maintenance Technology (AMT) course in the province. To note aircraft maintenance technicians and engineers are in demand here and abroad, now that the airline companies are increasing their fleet. (By: Ian Lumactud/Michalle W. Guillena)
