An outstanding student leader from the College of Liberal Arts of the University of Bohol, got the nod of the Ayala Corporation panel to participate during the 13th National Ayala Young Leaders Congress (AYLC 2011), on February 8 to 11, 2011 at the San Miguel Corporation Management Training Center, Alfonso, Cavite.
Ericson Ivarexel, a sophomore AB student and department governor , is one of the selected 81 students out of the 722 nominees from 138 colleges and universities nationwide to join the prestigious youth congress.
In a letter sent to UB President Victoriano B. Tirol, Jr., the organizers commended the university for molding such outstanding youth leader and for continuing to build foundations of our country for the next generation through leadership development.
It may be recalled that young student leaders of the University of Bohol were in the international and national limelight after gaining awards and recognitions. Anne B. Crusit (BEEd),national awardee – Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines 2009; Lalaine A. Dajao (CBA), regional winner – Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines, Central Visayas 2010; Arthur David Magno (Nursing), Faith Bernadette Descallar (CBA), and Gladys Hope Bullecer (CBA) , youth ambassadors of Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS).
In a related development, Michalle W. Guillena, senior AB student, represented the university in the 1st National Youth Congress on Good Citizenship held last December 16 to 18, 2010 at Mercedarian Retreat House, Panglao Island, Dauis, Bohol.
With a theme.”Promoting Values in Support of the Government Social Reform Agenda”,the program was aimed to create an environment conducive to reform through the promotion among the youth the Core Filipino Values enshrined in the Preamble of the Philippine Constitution.
The congress was organized by the National Youth Commission, Commission of Higher Education, EDSA People Power Commission, Good Citizenship Movement in partnership with the Provincial Government of Bohol. (L.A. Boncales)
