UB stude wins 1st place in reg’l writing tilt



Aimee Rose J. Lofranco, a student of the University of Bohol and former editor–in– chief of “Lamp bearer’s Voice”, official publication of the UB High School Evening Session, 8 has been awarded 1st place winner during the Visayas Culture Page Writing Competition-Secondary Level, organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) in celebration of the National Arts Month last February.

The awarding ceremony will be held on June 13, 2010 at 4:00 p. m and will be aired live over National Broadcasting Network (NBN) 4 during the NCCA’s Sining Gising television program, hosted by Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, former NCCA executive director. The winner will receive cash prize. (Mitch Wong-Guillena)

UBCN batch 1988 holds reunion

The University of Bohol College of Nursing (UBCN) batch of 1988 held its alumni homecoming last June 10, 2010 at the UBCN conference hall.

The celebration formally started with a Eucharistic celebration and a business meeting. It was followed by a fellowship night at Siglim Restaurant, Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City, where batch members were treated with funs and surprises by the organizing committee. Ms Isabelita Margate, college dean, delivered the inspirational message.

Batch members who were present include: Ma. Zaida R. Leona, Mary Doris M. Matabalan, Ma. Evelyn J. Barbarona, Maria Lizette M. Acedo, Amparo D. Cirunay, Chona B. Lim, Claudio L. Bautista, Ma. Lourdes M. Manliguez, Alice D. Del Valle, Maria Algerica A. Jabines, Priscila M. Cesar, Consuelo M. Salud, Marissa E. Samate and Mila B. Israel. (LAB)

RPC/UB high school homecomings set on July 2010

Two class reunions of the Rafael Palma College / University of Bohol high school department have been set starting July 23 to 25, this year.

RPC/UB high school batch of 1960 headed by Atty. Victoriano B. Tirol, Jr., university president, has already lined up various activities during a meeting held last May for its 3-day golden jubilee reunion on July 23, 24, and 25, 2010.

Meanwhile, UB high school day batch of l990 with its class president Myrna Thea Garsuta-Hontanosas, principal, Grace Christian School, has also scheduled its 2nd grand reunion on the occasion of their 20th year anniversary on July 24 and 25, 2010.

Both groups have confirmed the attendance of their school mates here and abroad, who earlier expressed eagerness to reunite with their batch mates and to visit their beloved alma mater. MCTC Judge Jorge Cabalit is the incumbent president of the RPC/UB Alumni Association, Inc. (LAB)
