UB engineering and architecture batch 76-77 hold reunion

The University of Bohol College of Engineering and Architecture batch l976 and l977 held recently a class reunion at Metro Centre Hotel, this city.

The group proceeded to the famous chocolate hills then to Loboc river cruise. They made a one day stop at Bohol Plaza and have a chance to glance, Tagbilaran’s panoramic view. The next day the group ends up frolicking at sea at Dominguez Beach, the beach owned by one of the members of the class, Engr. Ariel Dominguez.

This year’s organizer is Engr. Lilia Dominise-Policianos who is also elected as president. Other officers include: Engr. Rebecca Trazo-Garsuta, VP Luzon; Engr.Rolando Melecio, VP Visayas; Engr. Edgar Gultiano, VP Mindanao; Engr. Matilde Bagcatin-Chiu, secretary; Engr. Lydia Corre-RiƱa; and Engr. Affialita Macarayan-Daniel.

The members of the Board of Directors are, Engr. Modesto Membreve, Engr. Ariel Dominguez, Engr. Gabino Redulla, Engr. Eulogio Signe, Engr. Herminigildo Chiu, Engr. Wenceslao Simacon, Engr. Arsenio Torrejos, Engr. Glicerio Oppus, and Engr. Apuleyo Agusto. Engr. Moises Miilanar is the class adviser.

Engr. Gabino Redulla, vice mayor of Maribojoc described the 4-day class reunion as an affair to remember. It was a success, a very memorable and enjoyable one, Redulla commented.

It may be recalled that during these years, the University of Bohol posted a 100% passing mark in mechanical engineering. The college was then under the stewardship of Engr. Jes B. Tirol who at present is the chairman of UB’s Board of Trustees.

UB hold workshop on school improvement plan.

The University of Bohol held recently a school improvement plan development workshop for elementary and high school department at the university Instructional Research Center (IRC).

The workshop was participated by all faculty members, principals, parents/ representatives, pupils of the UB grade school and students of Day High School, and High School Evening session.

The workshop includes data based school improvement planning until 2012 and direction setting attune to UB’s vision as premier university. The whole activity is designed as pro active step in response to the challenge of basic education systems.

UB DHS joins 2009 NYSTESC

The University of Bohol Day High School department have participated in the 2009 National Youth Science Technology and Environment Summer Camp last April 3-7, 2009 at La Vista Balanga Inland Resort, Bataan.


The UB DHS Eco-SAVERS, the science club of the department, is composed of Mrs. Grace G. Filomeno and Mrs. Miriam Cubing , science teachers, and eight students namely, Arturo Jose Magno, Ivan Pacaldo, Dickmelson Lupot, Danielle Myr Bernaldez, Charm Garsuta, Lee Marie Acero, Lindsay Cagampang, and Lea Sahara Aparece. The team with its “Kuradang” entry became finalist in the Cultural Dance Presentation. This year’s theme is “KaLIKHAsan: Dalumat sa Makabagong Henerasyon.”


This five-day activity was organized and spearheaded by the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs (PSYSC) a national federation of science clubs , the main thrust of which is to promote public understanding of science, technology and the environment (PUSTE) among the youth.

UB produces new CPA and midwives

The University of Bohol have produced new certified public accountant and four midwives after her graduates successfully passed the May 2009 CPA Board Examination and April 2009 Midwifery Board Examination respectively.

The new accountant is Rita Guillano Oppus, CPA of Cabacnitan, Bilar Bohol while the new midwives include: Santa Vienna M. Butron, Roxanne A. Castro, Joybel R. Cajegas, and mae Flor M. Lustre.

Mr. Cesar Edulan, CPA, is the dean of the College of Business and Accountancy and Mrs. Delia Dano, RN,RM,MAED, is the Head of Midwifery Department.

The schedule of the separate oath taking ceremonies will be announced later.

UB, BFDPI, and Habitat Foundation Tagb. inks MOA on free shelter project

The University of Bohol, the Bohol Federation of Disabled Person, Inc. and the Habitat Foundation Tagbilaran City have entered a Memorandum of Agreement on UB Sweat Equity and Empowerment for the Disabled (UB-SEED) Project to be implemented in Barangay Tangnan, Panglao, Bohol.

The signing of the MOA was held at the UB President’s Office last May 11, 2009. The University of Bohol was represented by Atty. David B. Tirol, university president, while the BFDPI and Habitat Foundation Tagbilaran City were represented by Mr.Timoteo Quilas and City Councilor Leonides Borja, respectively. The purpose of the project is to provide the disabled persons descent and comfortable shelters which they can claim their own,
