UB Thanksgiving and Remembering held
The University of Bohol held yesterday, March 14, 2009 a Thanksgiving and Remembering was held in honor of her graduates and would-be alumni.
In a fitting and memorable ceremony held at the University gymnasium the UB administrator pay tribute to the graduating students who will soon leave the portals of their Alma Mater. UB President David Tirol, Executive Vice-Pres. Victoriano Tirol, Jr. and UB Alumni Assoc. Pres. Atty. Jose V. Torralba took turns in delivering inspiring messages to the graduating students.
To note, University of Bohol is the first University in the province, serving the people through education for sixty five years. Through the joint efforts of the UB Alumni Association and the institute will be alumni homecoming on July 20, 2009 this forum is part of the activity sponsored by TBTR activity. (by: Leo Armando B. 2nd Pres David B. Tirol Cup held
The University of Bohol, criminology Department held the 2nd Pres. David B. Tirol Cup on Pit Fighting Competition last March 6, 2009 at the UB gymnasium.
The UB Criminology Put Fighting Society in association with Bro. Jojo Carcallas and Grand Master Nelson Vargas with the support of the different martial arts clubs; Red Dragon Mixed Martial Arts of Master Voltaire Gonzales; Aikido Ryu of Master Rolando De La Serna; Lawin Karate Club of Grand Master Winnie Ayag; and Bokaido of Master Dennis Dadap successfully displayed the skills and talents in the art of Kick Boxing and Mix Martial Arts before the viewing public.
The major sponsors include; Pres. david B. Tirol, Brig. General Danny Lim, Sen. Antonio trillanes, and Sec. Arthur Yap of agriculture. The minor sponsors Dodong Malamis, George Lim, Mr. and Mrs. ruben Raneces, Camp de Fishing, milo, Coke, Allied Bank, Tire Queen, Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Aboyabor, and Aproniana Gift Shop.
The tournament is design to show the dicipline, strategy, and greatness, of the different skills and abilities of martial art students.

Convocation Awards and Testimonial Dinner: “Looking Back Moving Forward”
The University of Bohol recently celebrated the Convocation Awards and Testimonial Dinner to her employees last March 2, 2009 at the Grand Ballroom Bohol Tropics Resort, Tagbilaran City.
Atty. David B. Tirol, UB President and Engr. Jes B. Tirol, Chairman, Board of Trustees personally awarded the certificates of recognition, plaques of appreciation, and medallions to the awardees. Atty. Victoriano B. Tirol, Jr., executive vice president for operations delivered an inspiring message on UB’s direction for the 21st century. He is a former regional director of DepEd.
The Service Awardees as of March 2009 are the following; for 15 years of excellent service; Alberto J. Simbit, Angelita L. Bok, Corazon A. Castro, Cruzela A. Pando, German R. Torero, Gloria Leodivica I. Araneta, Jacqueline J. Dadis, Jason F. Lopena, Lucena O. Ladera, Ma. Corazon R. Larawan, Marissa T. Garsuta, nestor S. Barcelona, Olivet Vic L. Roma, Policarpo H. Tirol, and Verlita T. Cuadra. For 30 years service awardees; Bominda Cecilia T. Dalaquiado, Carolia O. Belarmino, Eddie P. Daculiat, Efrena S. Delantar, Godofredo D. Bigcal, Gracelda J. Petallar, and Sisinio C. Virtudazo. This year’s retiree is Miguelta D. Espinosa. Espinosa who also received an award for the commitment and service redered in UB.

Fine Arts celebrates 10th year Festival
The University of Bohol Fine Arts celebrated its 10th year with an art festival, entitled “Pinuga sa Hunahuna Diyes” at the Bohol Cultural Center last February 16-24, 2009.
The Fine Arts Students showcased during the exhibits their various visual artworks. The exhibit is designed to encourage, expose and inspire viewers of the outstanding talents and skills shown by the UB Fine Arts students. The affair was witnessed by the students from DCPNHS SPA, UB, CVSCAFT,HSS, and pupils from City Central Elementary School, Wisdom School, and general public. The exhibit also featured artist talks on Art Career, Curatorship, and Museum Management by Mr. Ino Manalo; Photography by Prof. Sam Molina, Vernacular Architecture by Arch’t German Torero (Dean of the College of Fine Arts and Architecture); Terra Cotta Sculpture by Mr. Lucell Larawan, and Dance Theatre by Mr. Lutgardo Labad with Ms. Lorely Trinidad.
The UB Fine Art students shown their home grown talents and skills to help promote arts. Printmaking workshop output from the different schools in the city formed part of the exhibit. To note, the University of Bohol is the only school in Bohol that offers a Fine Arts course.
Engineering studes on field trip
The University of Bohol students of the College of Engineering conducted a field trip to manila last February 2-8, 2009.
The educational field trip chaperoned by Engr. Ma. Liezel C. Gallardo MBA,IE along with the 16 engineering students visited the Nature Spring Mineral Water, Honda Philippines Incorporated, Columbia Wire and Cable Company, Lucky Me, Nestle, Keng Hua, Gardenia, Moldex, Yokohama, and ABS-CBN.
Fernando A. Estillore II, a student of bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering who was part of the delegation was luckily choosen as contestant in Hep Hep Hurry Game of Wowowee, the number 1 noon time program of ABS-CBN. He won P22,500.00 cash prize.
